The field is set for the 97th American Legion World Series after eight regional champions were crowned.
The last two American Legion World Series champions, 2022 winner Troy (Ala.) and 2023 winner League City (Tex.), lead the eight-team field for the 2024 event at Keeter Stadium at Veterans Field in Shelby, N.C., that starts Thursday.
Rounding out the field are fellow regional champions Hudson (Mass.), Wilmington Delvets (Del.), Bossier City (La.), Billings Scarlets (Mont.), Midland (Mich.) and Fargo (N.D.).
Midland is making its 12th ALWS appearance and ninth trip to Shelby.
Troy and League City are in the ALWS for the third straight year, which means they join nine other programs to achieve that feat in the 97-year history of the event. Only Billings (Mont.) from 1960 to 1962, Rio Piedras (P.R.) from 1972 to 1974, Cedar Rapids (Iowa) from 1974 to 1976, Santa Monica (Calif.) from 1976 to 1978, Boyertown (Pa.) from 1986 to 1988, Brooklawn (N.J.) from 1998 to 2001 and 2011 to 2015, Waipahu (Hawaii) from 2013 to 2015, Randolph County (N.C.) from 2017 to 2019 and Idaho Falls (Idaho) from 2019 to 2022 had previously advanced three straight years or more.
