Junior registration shows increase over 2021 season.
The 2022 American Legion Baseball season is underway nationwide following the June 1 final deadline for team registration.
Overall, team participation is essentially unchanged from the 2021 season. Nationwide, registration for Junior American Legion Baseball showed an increase of 52 teams for 2022.
For Senior teams, state tournaments will take place in July to determine participants in the eight regionals. Regional tournaments are scheduled for Aug. 3-7:
* Northeast Region in Shrewsbury, Mass.;
* Mid-Atlantic Region in Morgantown, W. Va.;
* Southeast Region in Asheboro, N.C.;
* Mid-South Region in Pelham, Ala.;
* Great Lakes Region in Midland, Mich.;
* Central Plains Region in Rapid City, S.D.;
* Northwest Region in Gillette, Wyo.;
* Western Region in Fairfield, Calif.
The eight regional champions will advance to the 95th American Legion World Series, taking place in Shelby, N.C., Aug. 11-16.
