Five award-winning music artists, festival will kick off the 2013 American Legion World Series in Shelby, N.C.
The American Legion World Series (ALWS) Executive Committee in Shelby, N.C., is once again creating a "wow" factor for the upcoming Series with a community festival and live performances by five award-winning music artists — Ronnie Milsap, Sara Evans, MercyMe, The Afters and Aaron Shust.
Contemporary Christian music artist MercyMe returns to Shelby for a second-straight year for the faith-based concert that features special guests Aaron Shust and The Afters. The concert is Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds; gates open at 4:30 p.m. Reserved seating is $40 and lawn seating is $20, or $15 each for groups of 25 or more. Tickets will go on sale in early June.
Country singer and songwriter Sara Evans performs Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. in the LeGrand Center, following the Banquet of Champions dinner. Tickets will be available for purchase after July 15.
North Carolina native and country music singer Ronnie Milsap performs Aug. 14 during The American Legion National Commander’s Reception. Tickets are invitation-only.
The 7th Inning Stretch Festival will be held in Uptown Shelby court square on Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The festival’s activities include a 5k run/walk, a children’s play area, street entertainers, a baseball pitching machine, a corn hole tournament, arts and crafts, food, and live music from local artists.
