Names of members who will serve as assistance sergeant-at-arms during national convention in New Orleans must be sent to the national office in Indianapolis by July 1.

Each year for national convention, about 100 Legionnaires serve as assistant sergeant-at-arms during the general session. The American Legion national commander desires each department be represented among this group, if possible.

The national convention budget makes no provision for payment of any expense in connection with this assignment. Therefore, selection should be made from among those to be present at the national convention this year in New Orleans. Those selected must attend an instructional meeting conducted by the national sergeant- at-arms. This meeting will be held Monday, Aug. 26, at 8 a.m. Instructions will be mailed prior to this date and will contain room information.

If you have Legionnaires to recommend for this assignment, please submit their name and membership ID number to American Legion Executive Director James Baca at National Headquarters in Indianapolis by fax, 317-630-1223, or emailTALforms@legion.org. Names are due by July 1.

A letter of appointment from National Commander Daniel Seehafer will then be sent to each nominee using the address listed on their membership record.
