Here is a look at the eight teams:
Region 1 – Northeast – Shrewsbury (Mass.) Post 397
Record: 30-7
Team: Second appearance in the American Legion World Series (2017)
State: 21st appearance, third straight (Shrewsbury and Braintree)
Pool: Stripes
Schedule: North Carolina (Thursday, 7:30 p.m.), Idaho (Saturday, 1 p.m.), North Dakota (Sunday, 4 p.m.)
Winning moment: With a 3-1 lead in the seventh inning, Christopher Wright scooped up a ground ball at second base and delivers it to first baseman Matthew Livingtson to send Shrewsbury back to Shelby for the second time in three years.

Region 2 – Mid-Atlantic – Randolph Co., (N.C.) Post 45
Record: 34-10
Team: Third appearance in the American Legion World Series, third straight (2017, 2018)
State: 22nd appearance, fourth straight
Pool: Stripes
Schedule: Massachusetts (Thursday, 7:30 p.m.), North Dakota (Saturday, 4 p.m.), Idaho (Sunday, 7:30 p.m.)
Winning moment: Tatum Marsh got a strikeout looking with the tying run on third and the winning run on first and immediately pumped his fist, knowing he sent his team to its third straight American Legion World Series.

Region 3 – Southeast – Destrehan (La.) Post 366 Pedal Valves Cardinals
Record: 35-8
Team: First appearance in the American Legion World Series
State: 27th appearance (second straight - Gonzales last year)
Pool: Stars
Schedule: Illinois (Thursday, 10 a.m.), Missouri (Friday, 7 p.m.), New Mexico (Saturday, 7:30 p.m.)
Winning moment: With the tying run at the plate for Tupelo (Miss.) Post 49, a pop up to right fielder Kolby Bourgeois is squeezed, sealing a 4-2 win.

Region 4- Mid-South – Festus (Mo.) Post 253
Record: 36-12
Team: Second appearance in the American Legion World Series (2009)
State: 10th appearance (last: Festus in 2009)
Pool: Stars
New Mexico (Thursday, 1 p.m.), Louisiana (Friday, 7 p.m.), Illinois (Sunday, 1 p.m.)
Winning moment: Festus had a comfortable 8-3 lead thanks to a six-run fifth inning but still rejoiced when the final out came on a groundout to first base.

Region 5 – Great Lakes – Danville (Ill.) Post 210
Record: 36-8
Team: First appearance in the American Legion World Series
State: 20th appearance (last: Moline, 2012)

Schedule: Louisiana (Thursday, 10 a.m.), New Mexico (Friday, 4 p.m.), Missouri (Sunday, 1 p.m.)
Winning moment: In a wild ending, Beverly/ Lowell (Ohio) Post 389/759 and Danville were tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded and two outs, Trevor Davis hit a ball hard to third base and Chase Vinson won a race to the third base bag to take off the force and help Danville walk off as winners.

Region 6 – Central Plains – Fargo (N.D.) Post 2
Record: 51-6
Team: Fourth appearance in the American Legion World Series (1969, 1989, 1992)
State: Fifth appearance (last: Fargo, 1992)
Pool: Stripes
Schedule: Idaho (Thursday, 4 p.m.), North Carolina (Saturday, 4 p.m.), Massachusetts (Sunday, 4 p.m.)
Winning moment: Austin Manuel got a strikeout looking and Fargo held on for a 3-2 win, ending a 27-year drought for North Dakota at regionals. The team celebrated accordingly.

Region 7 – Northwest – Idaho Falls (Idaho) Post 56
Record: 56-6
Team: First appearance in the American Legion World Series
State: Ninth appearance, third straight
Pool: Stripes
Schedule: North Dakota (Thursday, 4 p.m.), Massachusetts (Saturday, 1 p.m.), North Carolina (Sunday, 7:30 p.m.)
Winning moment: A long, nerve-wracking game ended in the 10th inning when Idaho Falls put up four runs in the top of the frame and a popout to second baseman Bruer Webster ended the game.
Region 8 – Western – Albuquerque (N.M.) Post 13
Record: 30-2
Team: First appearance in the American Legion World Series
State: First appearance in the American Legion World Series
Pool: Stars
Schedule: Missouri (Thursday, 1 p.m.), Illinois (Friday, 4 p.m.), Louisiana (Saturday, 7:30 p.m.)
Winning moment: Albuquerque capped off a wild week with another nailbiter, winning, 5-3, on a strikeout by Damien Roddy with the tying run on base.
