July impact report: protection, patriotism and participation

The American Legion continues to serve community, state and nation as the coronavirus pandemic persists.

A gift of 250,000 protective masks to The American Legion was immediately put to use with a 10,000-mask donation to the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, Mass., for residents and staff there.

Meanwhile, American Legion Riders are off and rolling to continue raising funds through virtual rides and in-state events, for the Legacy Scholarship fund, and American Legion experts are handling thousands of disability claims and decision appeals for veterans, free of charge.

An Arizona post is leading COVID-19 testing efforts in its community, and the Senate passed an American Legion-backed bill to expand Agent Orange benefits for service-exposed veterans.
